US military removes all B-1 bombers from RAF Fairford after 'Iran-linked terror plot' against the base: New fears over security force 'rapid' removal of planes - some of which only arrived last week

The United States military has removed all of its B-1 bombers from RAF Fairford amid heightened security fears following a suspected terror plot.

At least 12 American bombers were stationed at the air base, located in Gloucestershire, until the Pentagon hastily ordered the planes to return to their home stations on Sunday.

Some of the aircraft had only arrived days ago at the air base, which had been used as the 'preferred' hub for launching bomber strikes in Iran, prompting questions over why they have been removed so rapidly.

Can Colorado make oil companies pay for climate damage? The Supreme Court will soon decide

  • The Supreme Court will decide if state courts can hold oil companies accountable.
  • Boulder County sued Suncor Energy and Exxon Mobil for climate change costs.
  • Oil companies argue federal law governs emissions; decision expected by June 2027.

The Supreme Court will soon hear arguments on whether state courts can push the price of climate change onto energy companies — which will influence environmental lawsuits across the country.

KSL Comments - Why stop at oil companies? Why not sue the auto manufacturers, retailers, airlines, drivers, utilities, and everybody who uses energy? Everyone that eats food planted, harvested, processed, distributed, or retailed, bagged or prepared using any fuel should also pay. At the same time we should continue to whine about high food prices.

Treasury bond yields spike. What it means for home mortgages

  • Ten-year Treasury yields exceeded 5.3% Thursday, potentially influencing mortgage and loan rates.
  • Freddie Mac reported a jump in 30-year mortgage rates to 7.28% from 7.03%.
  • Rising Treasury yields also impact auto loans and credit card rates, which could affect households.

Home loan interest rates made the biggest one-week jump in four years, according to tracking by the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, better known as Freddie Mac. The average rate on a 30-year, fixed-rate mortgage was 7.28% on Thursday, up from 7.03% a week ago.
Auto loan rates are also typically tied to the bond market, and experts are warning that the rates for consumers interested in buying a new or used automobile are likely to see those impacts in financing offers.

Credit card rates are set by issuing institutions based on a number of factors, including the applicant's personal credit history

DOJ Won't Defend Suppressor Registry In Court After Congress Killed The $200 Tax

The Justice Department has now made it official: it will not defend part of the 92-year-old National Firearms Act in court, confirming what we reported in August.

Solicitor General D. John Sauer told Congress that "the Department of Justice has determined not to file an appeal" in Silencer Shop Foundation v. ATF, the case in which a federal judge ruled that NFA registration requirements for suppressors and short-barreled rifles and shotguns are unconstitutional now that the tax behind them is gone. The letter, addressed to Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley and dated Sept. 24, was made public this week.

The NFA has required owners of suppressors and short-barreled guns to pay a $200 tax and register with the federal government since 1934.

US delivers latest F-16s to Taiwan

The sale of the newly built fighter jets has drawn repeated rebukes from Beijing

The US has delivered Taiwan’s first two newly built F-16 fighter jets, part of an $8 billion order that has repeatedly drawn condemnation from Beijing.
