Forbes Warns of ‘Category 5 Economic Hurricane’ as Gold Nears Record
As long as the U.S. Congress and Federal Reserve keep pumping stimulus dollars into a moribund economy, upward pressure on gold will likely persist. Another stimulus package is coming with $1,200 checks for most Americans and hundreds of billions of dollars for various other programs. It will all be financed with more debt – and, ultimately, with fiat currency created out of thin air.
Successful American capitalist and past Money Metals podcast guest Steve Forbes warned on Thursday that the gold market may be anticipating a “category 5 economic hurricane” ahead:

Face mask U-turn: Walmart, Home Depot, Walgreens and CVS are among stores saying they WILL serve customers who don't wear masks despite announcing face coverings were mandatory
  • Major U.S. retailers brought in rules requiring masks to be worn by customers
  • However, the rules appear to be little more than a suggestion with stores powerless to deal with those who refuse
  • The requirement for customers to wear facial coverings have sometimes brought violent reactions from some patrons who have refused to comply
  • Companies that had previously announced a 'mask-on' policy now say they won't challenge customers who refuse to wear them and police will also not be called
  • Retailers are trying to walk a fine line between enforcement and friendly service
  • Some stores have stated that if a customer refuses to comply they will be served quickly and encouraged to order online to avoid future encounters

What’s Going On With Ghislaine Maxwell and Donald Trump?
An ostensibly tossed-off embrace of the alleged sex trafficker on Tuesday became an avenue of exploration into the president’s long relationship with her and Jeffrey Epstein…
Trump: “I don’t know,” he shrugged, after a reporter asked whether he thought Maxwell would reveal which powerful men were involved in Epstein’s trafficking ring. “I haven’t really been following it too much. I just wish her well, frankly.”
“I’ve met her numerous times over the years, especially since I lived in Palm Beach, and I guess they lived in Palm Beach, but I wish her well,” he continued. “Whatever it is.”

Lawsuit accusing relatives of LDS Church president of sexually abusing children dismissed
A lawsuit filed in Salt Lake City’s federal court in 2018 alleging sexual abuse and a cover-up involving family members of the president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was dismissed this week.
The case was filed by six unnamed plaintiffs, identified as “Jane Doe” and “John Doe,” against Brenda and Richard Miles, who are the daughter and son-in-law of church President Russell M. Nelson.
The Mileses vigorously denied the allegations.
Attorneys for the plaintiffs and defendants filed a motion Wednesday to dismiss the case, which was granted the next day by U.S. District Court Judge Jill N. Parrish.
The lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled again, according to FOX 13.
“The Miles are grateful for our judicial process that resulted in the dismissal of this case, which should never have been brought in the first place,” James Jardine, the couple’s attorney, told FOX 13 on Friday.
The plaintiffs dropped the suit, their attorney Craig Vernon told the station, after a recent Utah Supreme Court ruling “eviscerated” their case. That decision deemed that a new state law removing the statute of limitations in civil suits alleging sexual abuse could not be applied retroactively.
The now-dismissed lawsuit alleged that a man identified in court documents as the “Perpetrator” sexually abused his children in 1985. It also says a 16-year-old babysitter was both victimized and victimized others. The suit then accuses Brenda and Richard Miles of abuse.
“Doe 1 male defendant and Doe 2 female defendant led what they called ‘touching parties’ at their home and at the Perpetrator’s home. These ‘touching parties’ were sometimes attended by acquaintances and friends of Defendants and Perpetrator,” the lawsuit states.

UK and US say Russia fired a satellite weapon in space
The US and UK have accused Russia of testing a weapon-like projectile in space that could be used to target satellites in orbit.
The US State Department described the recent use of "what would appear to be actual in-orbit anti-satellite weaponry" as concerning. .. Only four countries - Russia, the US, China and India - have demonstrated an anti-satellite capability over the past decades. Anti-satellite warheads have been carried aloft by aircraft or rockets, and satellites have also been illuminated by lasers.
But Moscow is also clearly looking at using one satellite to kill another.

China tells US to close consulate in Chengdu in growing spat
China ordered the United States on Friday to close its consulate in the western city of Chengdu, ratcheting up a diplomatic conflict at a time when relations have sunk to their lowest level in decades. The move was a response to the Trump administration’s order this week for Beijing to close its consulate in Houston after Washington accused Chinese agents of trying to steal medical and other research in Texas… The United States has an embassy in Beijing and consulates in five other mainland cities — Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Shenyang and Wuhan. It also has a consulate in Hong Kong, a Chinese territory.
The consulate in Chengdu is responsible for monitoring Tibet and other areas in the southwest inhabited by non-ethnic Chinese minorities that are considered especially sensitive by Beijing…U.S. officials including Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have stepped up accusations of technology theft. In a speech Thursday, Pompeo said some Chinese students and others “come here to steal our intellectual property and to take this back to their country.”
