How Jared Kushner Washed His Hands of Donald Trump Before Jan. 6
On Thursday, Nov. 5, 2020, barely 24 hours after President Donald J. Trump claimed in the middle of the night that “frankly, we did win this election,” Jared Kushner woke up in his Kalorama mansion and announced to his wife that it was time to leave Washington. “We’re moving to Miami,” he said.
The election had not even been called for Joseph R. Biden Jr., but as Mr. Kushner later told the story to aides and associates, the White House’s young power couple felt no need to wait for the official results. They saw which way the votes were going and understood that, barring some unforeseen surprise, the president had lost his bid for a second term. Even if he refused to accept it himself.

Utahns earn 'D' grade for civics knowledge, UVU study finds
When it comes to knowledge about the U.S. Constitution, political system, public policy, and national and world leaders, Utahns are failing the test.
That's because Utahns were given a "D" grade on civics knowledge in a recent study conducted by the Center for Constitutional Studies at Utah Valley University.
While 57% of respondents were able to identify the three branches of government — executive, legislative and judicial, for those following along at home — fewer were able to name the rights guaranteed in the First Amendment, which includes freedom of religion and freedom of the press. Only 37% correctly identified religion, and 18% knew freedom of the press.

As China verges on becoming the premier global economy, how do US businesses survive?
How far away are we from that headline?
Experts have pegged the date as arriving in the next 10 years or so, and the likely dethroning of the U.S. economy, which has held the global top spot since the late 19th century, will mark a seismic shift of power that's been decades in the making.
But what steps can U.S. businesses and public policymakers take right now, as China elevates both its internal repression and external aggression, to stay viable in a fast-changing world?

Apple Will Handle Lending Itself With New Pay Later Service
Apple Inc. will handle the lending itself for a new “buy now, pay later” offering, sidestepping partners as the tech giant pushes deeper into the financial services industry.
The move marks the first time Apple is handling key financial tasks like loans, risk management and credit assessments. It’s a significant shift for a company that got its start selling computers. Until now, Apple’s financial services have been backed by third-party credit processors and banks. The Apple Card credit card, for instance, relies on Goldman Sachs Group Inc. for lending and credit assessment.
The financial firm is the issuer of the Mastercard payment credential that’s used to complete Apple Pay Later purchases. Apple Financing doesn’t have its own bank charter.

The Journal article, by Rachel Wolfe, was titled: “I Rented an Electric Car for a Four-Day Road Trip. I Spent More Time Charging It Than I Did Sleeping.”
“Over four days, we spent $175 on charging. We estimated the equivalent cost for gas in a Kia Forte would have been $275, based on the AAA average national gas price for May 19. That $100 savings cost us many hours in waiting time.”
