Vladimir Putin's doomsday submarine, which is designed to carry nuclear torpedoes capable of unleashing tsunamis, has been put to sea for the first time.
The Kremlin sent the nuclear submarine Khabarovsk off to sea trials in the White Sea with no fanfare last week.
The 10,000-ton submarine has been designed to carry up to six Poseidon nuclear torpedoes on top of its ordinary anti-ship and land-attack missiles.
The Poseidon missiles are said to have a range of more than 6,000 miles and can dive as deep as 3,280ft.
In theory, analysts say, an underwater blast created by Poseidon could drive a massive radioactive surge inland, sending huge tsunami waves that could devastate cities.
'Wolf' attacks tourists in Italian resort leaving three injured
Three tourists have been injured in a suspected wolf attack that was captured on video at an Italian holiday resort.

A 29-year-old man is dead after a convicted felon with an extensive criminal record allegedly stabbed him in the neck in broad daylight Sunday afternoon on Atlanta’s busy Beltline trail near a Kroger grocery store.
Atlanta Police say 54-year-old Jonathan Hamby, a convicted felon with 30 previous arrest cycles, was on active probation for an aggravated assault case out of Brookhaven when the attack occurred.

A partial lunar eclipse will turn the moon a copper-red color, creating an eerie blood moon visible across all 48 lower US states.
The celestial event, slated for Thursday evening, August 27, and into Friday, occurs when the sun, Earth and moon line up imperfectly. Only a part of the Moon moves into Earth’s dark inner shadow, called the umbra.
Although the event will not be a total lunar eclipse, approximately 96 percent of the moon will pass into Earth’s umbra, the darkest part of its shadow.
Meteorologists say that should be enough to give much of the lunar surface the reddish hue. The partial lunar eclipse will begin at 10.34pm ET Thursday. It will peak at 12.12am Friday, before ending at 1.51am.
