Oklahoma Bank Fails, FDIC Insures Only Half of Depositors – But Last Year FDIC Insured All of Silicon Valley Bank’s Uninsured Depositors
Another American bank has collapsed, this time in Oklahoma. On Friday, Oct. 18, 2024, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) shut down The First National Bank of Lindsay, which had been failing to maintain its capital requirements.
Unlike what happened to Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) last year, the FDIC is only covering 50 percent of uninsured depositors’ funds – the FDIC covered 100 percent of uninsured depositors’ funds at SVB, by comparison.
“For uninsured deposits, the FDIC has announced it will make 50 percent of those funds available to depositors starting Monday, October 21, 2024, with the possibility of increasing that amount as assets from the failed bank are sold,” the FDIC said in a statement.

Existing US home sales hit 14-year low; prices remain elevated
U.S. existing home sales dropped to a 14-year low in September, weighed down by higher mortgage rates and house prices.
The second straight monthly decline in home resales reinforced economists' views that the slump in residential investment, which includes homebuilding, deepened in the third quarter. The housing market has struggled to rebound after being knocked down by a resurgence in mortgage rates in the spring.

World hit by internet blackouts after ANOTHER Boeing failure
A Boeing satellite suffered an 'anomaly' that caused it to spontaneously explode in orbit, resulting in worldwide internet and communication blackouts.
In yet another blow to the aerospace company, the nearly 15,000 pound satellite - iS-33e - broke up into more than 50 pieces on Monday.
The orbiter was operated by the international satellite services provider Intelsat, which provides communications services to a variety of customers spanning nearly 150 countries.
Intelsat confirmed the 'total loss' of the satellite, which resulted in a 'loss of power and service' for customers in Europe, Africa and parts of the Asia-Pacific region.
This latest Boeing blunder comes as the company reports that it lost $6 billion in the third quarter, bringing total losses to nearly $8 billion for the current year.
The exact cause of the satellite's demise has not been revealed.

(15 MIN CITIES PRISONS) UTA reaches landmark deal with Stadler Rail in move that will change future of TRAX
SALT LAKE CITY — Utah's light rail line will soon look a little different.
The Utah Transit Authority board of trustees voted Wednesday to approve a $129 million contract with Stadler Rail to acquire 20 new Stadler Citylink light rail cars, which are expected to be in service by 2028. The agreement includes options to purchase up to another 60 new light rail cars from Stalder in the coming years, pending regulations tied to the Build America, Buy America Act.
A chunk of the initial $129 million will come through a $60 million federal grant that UTA received last year to help it pay for the replacement of older high-floor TRAX cars
COMMENTS - Worst system I've ever seen. Most people have to drive to the tracks to use the tracks since they are anti east to west for whatever reason.
UTA will keep spending billions of taxpayers money until someone stops them. Our current state legeslators don't seem to want to.
