Woman Pour Alcohol Over Herself, Another Woman Lights Her On Fire Inside Brazilian Bar
A bar customer had 80% of her body burned, according to
the police, after the bartender set fire to the victim's body, which was soaked
with alcohol gel.
The case occurred on the 13th, in Cotia, in the metropolitan region of São
Paulo. At the time, Bruna Regina dos Santos Amador, 27, told military police
that Juniele Rocha Silva Monteiro, 37, would have had an outbreak, during which
she threw gel alcohol over her entire body.
Then, according to Bruna, the victim would have lit a cigarette at the moment
when her body burst into flames.
Juniele is still hospitalized in serious condition at the Hospital das Clínicas
(HC) in São Paulo with kidney failure and lung impairment, according to
Metrópoles. Three days later, Juniele's sister handed police officers from the
Carapicuíba Sectional Police Station a video taken by the bar's surveillance
camera, which changed the entire line of investigation of the case, until then
treated as a suicide attempt.
The images show the victim apparently having an outburst as she pours the
entire contents of a gallon of gel alcohol over her body. She dances and raises
her arms while being questioned by one of the suspects. Bruna pushes the victim
a few times and lights a lighter, touching the victim's body three times, but
unable to spread the flames.

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson threw her support behind a bill to require police officers to conduct lethality assessments when responding to domestic violence cases.
If passed, the bill would require all law enforcement officers to ask the victim the following 11 questions:
- If the aggressor has ever used a weapon against the victim or threatened the victim with a weapon.
- If the aggressor has ever threatened to kill the victim of the victim's children.
- If the victim believes the aggressor will try to kill the victim.
- If the aggressor has a gun or could easily get a gun.
- If the aggressor has every tried to choke the victim.
- If the aggressor is violently or constantly jealous, or controls most of the daily activities of the victim.
- If the victim left or separated from the aggressor after they were living together or married.
- If the aggressor is unemployed.
- If the aggressor has ever attempted suicide, to the best of the victim's knowledge.
- If the victim has a child that the aggressor believes is not the aggressor's biological child.
- If the aggressor follows or spies on the victim, or leaves threatening messages for the victim.
Weiler said if the victim answers yes to any of the first three questions, it would trigger an immediate referral to a women's shelter or another organization that can provide victim services. Access to a gun and previous instances of choking the victim are also critical, he said.
"Sadly, we now know that the father of the family that was murdered in Enoch, Utah ... there was a police report that the eldest daughter had been choked by her father and that seemed to be an indicator of higher risk of violence in the future," Weiler said.
