Moderna Inc has begun dosing patients in a mid-to-late stage study of its Covid-19 vaccine, mRNA-1273, in children aged six months to less than 12 years, the company said on Tuesday.
The study will assess the safety and effectiveness of two doses of mRNA-1273 given 28 days apart and intends to enroll about 6,750 children in the United States and Canada.

An order of Catholic priests has pledged $100m in reparations to descendants of Black people it enslaved and sold, in the largest initiative of its kind by the church.
“Our shameful history of Jesuit slaveholding in the United States has been taken off the dusty shelf and it can never be put back,” said the Rev Timothy P Kesicki, president of the Jesuit Conference.
Jesuits used enslaved labour and sold enslaved people for more than a century, to support clergy, churches and schools, including what is now known as Georgetown University in Washington DC.
It comes amid growing calls for reparations across US institutions including churches, colleges and Congress.
As the first and largest corporate slaveholder in the Americas and the largest Christian supporter of segregation in the US, the Catholic church will “never be able to repay fully what is owed for the millions of Black lives stolen and destroyed by its own practices of slavery and segregation”, Williams said.

The eight women, many of them Asian, were shot dead in three separate shootings at two spas and a massage parlor in and around Atlanta. The first shooting happened just before 5pm at Young's Asian Massage parlor off Bells Ferry Road and Highway 92 in Acworth, Georgia about 30 miles north of Atlanta. Micron to put Utah computer chip factory up for sale as it shifts strategy
Micron Technology on Tuesday said it will put a chip factory in Lehi, Utah, up for sale as it quits making a type of memory chip it jointly developed with Intel Corp nearly a decade ago.
While he could not name the parties or how much the factory might sell for, he said the bidders could go beyond memory companies to include makers of computing chips, analog chips or chip contract manufacturers… the factory is slated to cost Micron $400 million this year.
