New Washington Legislation Makes 3D Printers Surveillance Tools
Washington lawmakers are advancing two proposals that would expand the state’s control over how 3D printers and similar equipment can be used, citing the spread of untraceable firearms as justification.
The measures have raised concern among those who see them as an overreach that risks curbing lawful innovation and digital design freedoms.
House Bill 2321 would require that all 3D printers sold in Washington after July 1, 2027, include built-in safeguards that detect and block attempts to produce firearms or firearm components.
The structure of this law would make permanent the shift from ownership to permission, one firmware update at a time.

Alex Pretti broke rib in violent confrontation with ICE just days before he was shot dead in Minneapolis
Alex Pretti had been injured in a scuffle with federal agents in Minneapolis just one week before he was shot dead, it has emerged.
Pretti, 37, was left with a broken rib after being tackled by a group of officers during a protest against Donald Trump's immigration crackdown
The alleged assault occurred after Pretti stopped his car after seeing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers chasing a family on foot, the insider said.
Pretti allegedly began shouting and blowing a whistle, and was then tackled to the ground by five agents. The source claimed one officer leaned on his back, causing his ribs to break.
The ICU nurse, who allegedly 'thought he was going to die', was reportedly released at the scene - but allegedly remained on federal agents' radar.

Russian troops failing to follow orders taped upside-down to a tree
Russian soldiers are stripped to their underwear and taped upside-down to a tree in freezing conditions as punishment for refusing to join meat-grinder assaults
Horrifying footage shows the barbaric punishment torture by Putin commanders for Russian soldiers accused of desertion and failing to follow orders.
One mutinous fighter was seen taped upside down to a tree in the biting cold near the frontline.
Another - also tethered to a tree - was forced to eat snow by his superior officer.
The frightened and shaking men wore only underwear after being stripped of their winter uniforms.
Their foul-mouthed commander is heard barking: '[They] wanted to **** off from their positions, not follow orders.'
Forcing snow into the mouth of the refusenik, the raging officer says: 'Eat, you ****ing *****.'
One of the taped men pleads in desperation: 'I'm sorry, it won't happen again.'
He is told by the commander: 'You need to work, not **** off. Did I tell you where to go?'
The reply is: 'I'm sorry, please.'

Stephen Miller walks back comments on shooting of Alex Pretti as Kristi Noem throws immigration guru under the bus
Stephen Miller admitted that Border Patrol agents may 'not have been following protocol' during the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti as Kristi Noem appeared to blame him for the fallout.
Miller was not present Monday night when Trump held a two-hour meeting with key advisors at Noem's request.
However, one source explicitly said that Border Patrol Commander at Large Greg Bovino 'should be blamed, not Stephen.'
They said that Bovino was the one giving information to the White House from the scene.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt added: 'Stephen Miller is one of President Trump's most trusted and longest-serving aides. The president loves Stephen.'

UPS said it will shed around 30,000 operational roles in 2026, according to its latest earnings call.
The layoffs follow a brutal restructuring drive that has already seen roughly 48,000 jobs eliminated across 2025, including management roles, as UPS scales back lower-margin deliveries for Amazon. The company says that shift alone saved $3.5 billion.

FBI Accessed Encrypted PCs Using Microsoft Recovery Keys
Federal investigators obtained access to encrypted computers for the first time through Microsoft’s own recovery keys, a move that has intensified long-standing concerns about how much control the company retains over user data.
When they discovered the machines were protected with BitLocker, the encryption system built into Windows, they turned to Microsoft.
BitLocker is designed to shield all files on a drive by scrambling the data so it can’t be read without a recovery key.
Since Windows 10, the system has been enabled automatically on many new PCs.
