According to reports, Benjamin Erickson – who served as an infantryman in the U.S. Army from May 2021 to November 2024, but was never deployed – was detained and questioned after a shooting at the ivy league campus left two dead and 9 people critically injured.
Reports claim Erickson made a 17-hour trek from Wisconsin to Rhode Island, and was taken into custody at a hotel about 15 miles away from campus.
“Public records indicate that as of 2024, Benjamin Erickson’s residence was an apartment in Washington, D.C., and that he previously lived in Wisconsin,” NBC News reports, adding he had no previous criminal record.
The Providence Journal reports “Erickson’s possible connection to Brown University was not immediately clear.”
The Washington Post cautioned, “Erickson has not been named as a suspect or charged in connection with the Saturday attack.”
