Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R–Ga.) is set to introduce a bill to phase out the H-1B work visa program to protect American workers, the congresswoman’s latest effort to pressure the Trump administration to stick to “America First” policies.
Greene announced the initiative in a video Thursday, criticizing the program she says “has been riddled with fraud and abuse and has been displacing American workers for decades.”
The bill makes an exception for 10,000 foreign medical professionals per year, Greene pointed out, however that cap would be phased out over ten years “to allow us time to build our own pipeline of American doctors and physicians.”
The bill also removes the path of citizenship for H-1B workers, “forcing visa holders to return home when their visa expires.”
