It is pretty sad how people labor their entire lives to pay a house off thinking that once your house is paid off, you are free and clear and no one can ever take that house away from you. But that is not at all true because you have that pesky property tax that you HAVE to pay forever and if you don't pay it, the government can take away your house from you. Property tax is one of the biggest burdens and shams on people in this country. I know people in this country whose house is paid off but they have the burden of having to come up with 10k a year in property which costs them per month more than my regular house payment...shameful. And they are retired and on a very fixed income. So, more than social security being taxed...property tax is by far a much bigger burden on people.
