Police officers shot and killed a man wielding swords in Cottonwood Heights late Halloween night after responding to a domestic violence call.

Officers followed the car to a dead-end street, Creekcove Circle, where the man got out of his car and brandished two swords at Unified police officers and Cottonwood Heights police officers. The statement said the man was "advancing toward the officers" while holding the swords.

"The officers tried to control the man using a Taser device, but it was ineffective. The officers eventually shot the man and then applied lifesaving measures until UFA medics arrived with advanced life support," Cottonwood Heights police said.
