The Justice Department sent a letter to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) threatening legal action if the state does not remove the floating barriers installed along the southern border.
In a letter sent to Abbott’s office Friday, the DOJ argued that the floating border barrier along the Rio Grande near Eagle Pass, Texas was illegal and posed a danger to the illegal aliens.
Specifically, DOJ lawyers claimed the floating barriers weren’t approved by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and that the barrier violates the Rivers and Harbors Act by creating a navigation hazard on the river.
The letter gave the State of Texas until 2 p.m. on July 24 to respond to avoid legal action.
