Four
people were confirmed dead after a pileup of dozens of cars along the Ohio
Turnpike amid wintry conditions, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crashes happened Friday afternoon along Interstate 80 eastbound between
Route 53 and State Route 4 in Sandusky County, near Groton Township and the
Erie County line. At least 46 cars were involved. Just after 9 p.m. Friday, the
patrol confirmed four people were killed. Many more were injured. Weather was a
factor in the crash.

The FBI and international partners have at least temporarily disrupted the network of a prolific ransomware gang they infiltrated last year, saving victims including hospitals and school districts a potential $130 million in ransom payments, Attorney General Merrick Garland and other U.S. officials announced Thursday.
"Simply put, using lawful means we hacked the hackers," Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco said at a news conference.
How the takedown will affect Hive's long-term operations is unclear. Officials announced no arrests but said, to pursue prosecutions, they were building a map of the administrators who manage the software and the affiliates who infect targets and negotiate with victims.

Antidepressants linked to rise in superbugs, study finds
New research out of Australia has identified a link between antidepressant use and the spawning of deadly new “superbugs.”
Jianhua Guo, a professor at The University of Queensland‘s Australian Centre for Water and Environmental Biotechnology and the study’s lead author, told Nature magazine that despite being a completely different class of drugs than antibiotics, antidepressants trigger the formation of superbugs that evade pharmaceutical treatments.
Published on January 23 in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the paper outlines Guo and his colleagues’ experiments on the bacteria Escherichia coli, more commonly known as E. coli. They exposed the bacteria to five common antidepressants: sertraline (Zoloft), duloxetine (Cymbalta), bupropion (Wellbutrin), escitalopram (Lexapro) and agomelatine (Valdoxan).
For two months, Guo and his colleagues tested the bacteria’s susceptibility to 13 different antibiotics representing six different classes of drugs. All of them pushed E. coli to develop antibiotic resistance within that exposure window.

"The
attacker broke through the guard post, killing the head of security with a
Kalashnikov assault rifle," Azerbaijan's foreign ministry said.
The Azeri foreign ministry said the attack was a result of Tehran ignoring
concerns and calls for improved security measures at the embassy.
"Unfortunately, the latest bloody terrorist act demonstrates the serious
consequences of the failure to give the necessary attention to our constant
appeals in this regard," the foreign ministry said.
Azerbaijani foreign ministry spokesman Aykhan Hajizada said the embassy staff
"are being evacuated from Iran.
"All responsibility for the attack lies with Iran," said Hajizada,
adding that a recent anti-Azerbaijan campaign in the Iranian media had
"encouraged the attack".
Baku has also summoned the Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan.
Tehran's police chief, General Hossein Rahimi, said the attacker has been
arrested and an investigation had been launched.
Rahimi said the attacker was motivated by "personal problems" and was
married to an Azeri woman.
"According to the preliminary investigation, these are personal
motives," Iran's foreign ministry spokesman, Nasser Kanani, said.
Iranian authorities have condemned the incident, but played down talk of any
political motive for the attack.
Iran is home to millions of Turkic-speaking, ethnic Azeris, and it has long
accused Baku of fomenting separatist sentiments in its territory.
Relations between the two countries have traditionally been sour, with the
former Soviet republic being a close ally of Turkey, Iran's historical rival.
The attack comes amid increased tensions between Azerbaijan and Iran, after
Baku appointed its first ever ambassador to Israel this month.
