Independent contractors who made money via online services will have their income reported to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) starting in 2023, the agency said in a second warning issued Tuesday.
People who made money via eBay, Etsy, Poshmark, Uber, and other digital services will face the new scrutiny and rules. It applies to anyone who made more than $600 via those platforms or via Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, PayPal, or similar platforms in return for goods and services.

When the CEO of a company with a history of woke virtue signalling came running to Republicans asking for help in a merger deal that Democrats are seeking to block, Senator Tom Cotton hilariously responded “best of luck.”
The discussion in the recent Senate hearing centered around a proposed merger between the Kroger and Albertsons grocery chains, which Democrats have aligned against.
The problem for Kroger is that it has a long history of pushing “diversity and inclusion” training on its employees, including forcing them to wear gay pride logos and firing those who refused.
When the company wants a break, however, it had no qualms running to the GOP.
Cotton was having none of it though, likening the situation to tech companies asking Republicans to protect them from regulation by Democrats.
“I’ve cautioned them for years that if they silence conservatives and center-right voters… if they discriminate against them in their company, they probably shouldn’t come and ask Republican senators to carry the water for them whenever our Democratic friends want to regulate them or block their mergers,” Cotton said.
“I’ll say this: ‘I’m sorry that’s happening to you. Best of luck,” he concluded.

The study examined the top 150 most populated cities in the United States, with at least the two most populated cities in each state. Salt Lake City and West Valley City made the list. Even as Utah’s “most sinful city,” Salt Lake City was still average on the list, ranking 93 out of 182 overall in the nation. West Valley City was the fourth lowest on the list, ranking 179. The study was conducted by analyzing each of the “Seven Deadly Sins.” 38 metrics were used across the seven categories of anger and hatred, jealousy, excesses and vices, greed, lust, vanity, and laziness.

China Is Using Radar Reflector Balloons To Defend Critical Targets From Aerial Attack
The balloons are meant to confuse sensors and weapons from surveilling and destroying key targets, but they may have another function, too.
China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) recently held joint defensive drills with local militia units that included deploying tethered balloons with radar reflectors attached to them as a means to protect critical infrastructure from aerial attack. While the technology is certainly far less sophisticated than many modern air defense systems coming out of China or elsewhere, the balloons could still potentially offer a low-cost, easy-to-deploy, passive way to help defend critical targets against specific types of incoming attacks from long-range missiles and even drones.

A 28-year-old woman unexpectedly dropped dead while working out at a gym in Ecuador.
The woman — who was identified as Betsy Dayana Jaramillo Ramírez — is believed to have suffered a heart attack at Zona Muscular gym in Santa Rosa, El Oro province, on Nov. 29.
Ramírez was captured on the gym’s video footage doing squats and weightlifting when she suddenly stopped and fell forward, face-planting on the floor.
Other gym-goers, most of them women, rushed to help Ramírez. They sat her in the recovery position while continuously checking her pulse until paramedics arrived.
Ramírez was rushed to Santa Teresita Hospital but arrived with no signs of life. Doctors pronounced her dead upon arrival.

Following Tuesday’s decision, Oregonians will no longer be able to purchase ammunition magazines carrying 10 or more rounds. This new law will go into effect starting on Thursday.
In order for someone to be granted a permit allowing them to acquire a firearm, they must successfully complete a safety course and pass a background investigation. The legislation eliminates the so-called Charleston Loophole. It is a loophole in federal law that permits the transfer of weapons to an individual after three days, even if a background check is incomplete. Transfers will not be allowed in Oregon after Thursday until the background investigation is finished.

The Federal Reserve Board of Governors on Dec. 2 invited public comment on proposed principles for managing climate-related risks of banks with $100 billion or more in assets.
