Student arrested, accused of bringing gun to Salt Lake college campus
A man who said he was afraid that a school shooting might happen was arrested after police say he brought his own gun on campus at a private Salt Lake college.
On Monday, a 21-year-old man was arrested at Ensign College, 95 N. 300 West, for investigation of possessing a gun on school premises. The college is owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Campus security received reports that the man was showing his gun to other students on school property. When Salt Lake police arrived, security personnel had detained the man and found a loaded gun in his possession, according to a police booking affidavit.
"The (man) told me he carried a firearm to school because he was afraid of the school shootings happening lately," the arresting officer wrote in the affidavit.
Interestingly. the LDS Church is a big supporter of the 2nd amendment as long as it is not on their property. Go figure.
