Same-sex marriage: Utah poll finds 72% favor legal gay marriage (SODOM & GOMORRAH)

The new Deseret News/Hinckley Institute of Politics survey found 72% of Utah residents agree that marriages between same-sex couples should be recognized by the law as valid, with the same rights as traditional marriages. The poll shows 23% disagree, while 5% don't know.
"For a state that less than 20 years ago passed laws and a constitutional amendment prohibiting same-sex marriage, there has been a seismic shift in opinion," said Jason Perry, director of the Hinckley Institute of Politics at the University of Utah.
When same-sex marriage became recognized in Utah in 2014 — a year ahead of the Supreme Court decision — it had support from less than half of Utahns. A January 2014 Deseret News/KSL poll amid the legal battle and contentious public debate over the issue found a majority of Utahns (57%) opposed same-sex marriage.
"Now, it has majority support from nearly every group across the political, demographic and religious spectrum," Perry said.
The Deseret News/Hinckley poll shows Utahns are aligned with the nation as a whole on the issue. A Gallup poll in May found 71% of Americans say they support legal same-sex marriage, a new high.
A majority of Utahn who identified as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the survey favor legal same-sex marriage. The poll found 58% of those who consider themselves "very active" in the church agree that marriages between same-sex couples should be recognized by the law as valid, with same rights as traditional marriages.
"We affirm that those who avail themselves of laws or court rulings authorizing same-sex marriage should not be treated disrespectfully. The gospel of Jesus Christ teaches us to love and treat all people with kindness and civility — even when we disagree," according to the church's website.

Federal Reserve announces major ‘pilot exercise’ for ESG social credit score system

The Federal Reserve has taken a major step in the direction of facilitating an ESG compliant monetary network that effectively acts as a parallel system to that of the Chinese Communist Party’s infamous social credit scoring system.
The Fed said in a statement Thursday:
“Six of the nation's largest banks will participate in a pilot climate scenario analysis exercise designed to enhance the ability of supervisors and firms to measure and manage climate-related financial risks. Scenario analysis—in which the resilience of financial institutions is assessed under different hypothetical climate scenarios—is an emerging tool to assess climate-related financial risks, and there will be no capital or supervisory implications from the pilot.”
In other words, The Fed is working with the big banks to monitor their ability to comply with the ruling class’s preferred enviro statist technocratic tyranny.

Meta announces mega expansion to Facebook data center in Utah
The Phase 3 expansion plans unveiled Friday call for two more giant structures that will add about 2 million additional square feet to the facility and bring Meta's total capital investment in the Eagle Mountain project to $1.5 billion, according to the company.
On Friday, Meta also announced a $200,000 donation in support of the Central Utah Water Conservancy District's Hobble Creek Flow Restoration project in Utah County. Meta says the donation is part of a larger effort to fund water restoration projects that equal 200% of Eagle Mountain facility's water consumption. Meta also says its in-house data center designs are 80% more water-efficient than the industry average.

Utah’s busiest coal mine remained out of production Friday, 10 days after a fire broke out underground, prompting an emergency response by federal authorities.
The mine’s operator, Emery County Coal Resources, Inc., received emergency permission from state regulators this week to drill three boreholes into the mine to take air samples, but it remained unclear whether those holes were successfully drilled.
The Utah Division of Oil, Gas and Mining, or DOGM, reported on Sept. 22 that the mine had caught fire two days earlier. All the employees were evacuated safely with no injuries and the MSHA set up a command post at the mine, located in Emery County’s wing of the Book Cliffs, according to DOGM spokeswoman Hollie Brown.
He emphasized that no one from the mine’s 200-member workforce had been laid off, but he was not able to say how long before the mine would resume operations or how significant the damage is.
Burning Utah mine had been cited for possible fire hazards, records show
EMERY COUNTY, Utah — Three times in less than 18 months, inspectors cited the Lila Canyon Mine, which is currently on fire, for not doing enough to prevent fires, according to a federal database.
In January and February of 2021 and again in May of this year, the mine failed to erect an adequate firewall between the coal or other combustibles and unattended motors or electrical equipment, according to citations published by the U.S. Department of Labor.

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) signed a bill Thursday making California a sanctuary state for children to obtain “gender-affirming” surgery or drugs.
The bill, SB 107, was sponsored by Sen. Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco), who also sponsored a law in 2020 that reduced penalties for adults who had oral or anal sex with a willing minor child within ten years of their age by removing a requirement that they register as sex offenders, leaving that to judges’ discretion. The law ostensibly addressed discrimination against LGBTQ people.
