A car is stolen every 48 seconds in the United States, according to CarInsurance.net. And in 2019 alone, more than $6 billion was lost to car thefts. But it was the recent spike in local car thefts that prompted officer Tiffany Mitchell with the St. George Police Department to post a statement on social media.
According to the post, amid the recent rise of stolen vehicles, 14 were stolen within a 28-day period last month, which equates to roughly one vehicle stolen every other day.

IRS Training Included Armed Agents Carrying Out Simulated Assault on Suburban Home
An Internal Revenue Service internal report shows heavily armed agents simulating an assault on a suburban home as part of their training.
Training also includes “physical fitness conditioning and use of force training, which includes firearms, weaponless tactics, and building entry,” according to the report.
“In addition to SAIT, NCITA assists in providing advanced training to special agents in use of force, firearms instruction, defensive tactics, and building entry.”

The training simulation is likely to prompt concern following the revelation of an IRS job posting that announced it was looking to hire people who are ready to kill.

EU calls electric vehicle tax credit in the Inflation Reduction Act 'discriminatory'
The European Union criticized the U.S.'s proposed electric vehicle tax credit written into the Inflation Reduction Act on Thursday saying the proposed qualifications are "discriminatory" and may break World Trade Organization rules.
"We think it's discriminatory, that it is discriminating against foreign producers in relation to U.S. producers," said European Commission spokeswoman Miriam Garcia Ferrer, reported Reuters. "Of course, this would mean that it would be incompatible with the WTO."
Garcia Ferrer said the EU agrees with the United States' efforts to provide incentives for electric vehicles but asked for the "discriminatory elements" to be removed from the bill.
The Inflation Reduction Act passed the Senate on Sunday with provisions to provide an up to $7,500 tax credit to electric vehicle buyers.
The EU also criticized similar electric vehicle tax credits proposed in the Build Back Better bill in 2021 which it said would discriminate against European car manufacturers.
The U.S. House will likely vote on the Inflation Reduction Act on Friday, according to Reuters, where it is expected to pass.
