Republican Mike Lee, Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy, and Independent Bernie Sanders will unveil their National Security Powers Act on Tuesday, sources familiar with the measure said.
The legislation has three parts — one to increase Congress' control over the authorization of military actions, another to reform the review of major foreign weapons sales, and a third to increase Congress' control over the declaration of "national emergencies," which can be used to justify weapons sales or military strikes.

Over 200 People In 27 States Being Monitored For Monkeypox: CDC
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is monitoring over 200 people in 27 states for potential exposure to monkeypox after their contacts were traced with a Texan who contracted the rare disease while traveling in Nigeria weeks ago.
Monkeypox is caused by a virus that is related to smallpox, the only human virus to have been eradicated. It causes less severe illness than smallpox, but is still quite dangerous. The CDC said that the fatality rate for the strain of monkeypox seen in the Dallas case is about 10%.
Monkeypox is rarely seen in people. There was a large outbreak in the U.S. in 2003, when a shipment of animals from Ghana contained several rodents and other small mammals that were infected with the virus; 47 confirmed and probable cases were reported in five states. The outbreak was the first time human cases of monkeypox were reported outside of Africa. -Stat

Should you worry about monkeypox?
There may be a reason to worry about the virus. Per the CDC, the strain of monkeypox can be fatal in about 1 in 100 people. However, rates can be higher among those who have weak immune systems.
- “Monkeypox is a rare but potentially serious viral illness that typically begins with flu-like illness and swelling of the lymph nodes and progresses to a widespread rash on the face and body,” the CDC said in its statement.

How do you treat monkeypox?
According to the CDC, “there is no proven, safe treatment for monkeypox virus infection.”
