Utah moving away from English-only for government agencies
Lawmakers agreed to back away from English as the official language of Utah government by passing SB214, sponsored by Senate Majority Assistant Kirk Cullimore, R-Draper.
The bill passed the House 55-17 Friday after clearing the Senate on Tuesday.
"We need to be able to communicate with all Utahns. ... This will provide clarity for all agencies and local governments," floor sponsor Rep. Mike Schultz, R-Hooper, said.

Texas Gov. Abbott Introduces Bill Banning Social Media Censorship
Republican Texas Governor Abbott joined state Senator Bryan Hughes for a press conference Friday, updating citizens on a new bill meant to protect free speech online.
“I am joining @SenBryanHughes to announce a bill prohibiting social media companies from censoring viewpoints,” Abbott wrote on Twitter. “Too many social media sites silence conservative speech and ideas and trample free speech. It’s un-American, Un-Texan, & soon to be illegal.”

Armed thieves stole a reporter’s camera while he was covering a surge of car thefts in a San Francisco neighborhood on Wednesday.
KPIX 5 reporter Don Ford was in the Twin Peaks neighborhood reporting on smash-and-grab robberies from parked automobiles, which have reportedly become ‘commonplace,’ when he was ambushed.
“The car came up here while we were about to do an interview, three guys jumped out,” Ford explained. “One had a gun and put in my face and said, ‘We’re taking the camera.’”
“My whole thought at the moment was be calm. Let’s not get this guy excited. He’s got the gun. I don’t. So you take you the camera. It’s yours, buddy.”

Mr Braine said: "Superior mirages occur because of the weather condition known as a temperature inversion, where cold air lies close to the sea with warmer air above it.
"Since cold air is denser than warm air, it bends light towards the eyes of someone standing on the ground or on the coast, changing how a distant object appears.
"Superior mirages can produce a few different types of images - here a distant ship appears to float high above its actual position, but sometimes an object below the horizon can become visible."

Hyperinflation Pushes Venezuela to Print 1,000,000-Bolivar Bills
Venezuela said it will introduce new large-denomination bolivar notes as hyperinflation renders most bills worthless, forcing citizens to turn to the U.S. dollar for everyday transactions.
The country’s central bank posted a statement on its website Friday saying it would begin circulating the new 200,000, 500,000 and 1,000,000 bills to “fulfill the current economy’s requirements” without providing further details.
