London scientists genetically alter human embryos, with disastrous results
A team of scientists from London’s Francis Crick Institute attempted to
genetically modify human embryos. They
were deeply troubled by the results.
Led by biologist Kathy Niakan, the team of researchers utilized a gene-editing
technique called CRISPR. Wanting to understand the role of a particular gene in
early stage human development, the researchers deleted that gene and monitored
embryonic development for fourteen days.
After just fourteen days of embryonic development, half of the edited
human embryos contained serious unintended genetic changes. When compared to
embryos that had not undergone genetic modification, these edited embryos
showed troubling signs of genetic damage and potential for birth defects and cancer
later in life.

Utahns rally to celebrate
Black community, protest injustice on Juneteenth
Juneteenth commemorates the official end of slavery in the U.S., marking
June 19, 1865, when Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, to
announce the Civil War was over and enslaved people in Texas — the last in the
country — were free.
Utah’s Legislature recognized the day as Juneteenth Freedom Day in 2016,
making it one of 47 states to officially mark the holiday.
Utah State History
What is Juneteenth and why does it matter in Utah today?
Friday marks 155 years since Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger arrived in
Galveston, Texas, to deliver the message that Texas was once again under Union
control and that all remaining slaves must be freed.
That moment on June 19, 1865, could be seen as the true end of the
Civil War, even if the Confederate Army had surrendered two months prior. By the
end of 1865, the 13th amendment of the U.S. Constitution was ratified and the
practice of involuntary slavery was forever banned.
"Juneteenth," also called Freedom Day or Emancipation Day,
turned into the celebration of the day it ended and it has grown since then.

Court documents reveal how police found missing children’s remains on Chad Daybell’s
property
The probable cause affidavit for Chad Daybell's arrest was unsealed
Friday, revealing that investigators used interviews, cellphone
records and cellphone
location data to locate Tylee and JJ’s remains…In the affidavit, police say Lori
Daybell told a friend the children had become “zombies,” a religious belief
that came from the Church of
the Firstborn. The friend told police Lori explained to her the term
“refers to an individual whose mortal spirit has left their body and their body
is now the host of another spirit … considered a ‘dark spirit,” the affidavit
states. It’s also believed the person’s “true spirit goes into ‘limbo’ and is
stuck there until the host body is physically killed,” police wrote in the
affidavit.
Court documents say Lori Daybell learned the term “zombie” from Chad
Daybell.
