Cops said that just before 3pm officers were dispatched to the Jefferson Gun Outlet, which sits next to a roller skating rink on the 6900 block of Airline Drive in Metairie. 'We had one initial shooter here at the scene who hit two victims inside the location, both of them have been identified as deceased at this location,' said Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joe Lopinto during a brief press conference. 'It appears that several individuals ended up engaging that suspect, whether inside or out here in the parking lot.'

President Joe Biden urged Congress Friday to “swiftly pass” the Equality Act, setting him squarely on a collision course with the U.S. Catholic Bishops.
“Full equality has been denied to LGBTQ+ Americans and their families for far too long,” Biden said in a statement. “Despite the extraordinary progress the LGBTQ+ community has made to secure their basic civil rights, discrimination is still rampant in many areas of our society.”
On Friday, Catholic League President Bill Donohue joined the bishops in denouncing the attempt to impose gender ideology on the nation in the name of “equality.”
“The Equality Act is, without a doubt, the most radical assault on religious liberty, the right to life, and privacy rights ever packaged into one bill,” Dr. Donohue declared.
What makes the Equality Act really treacherous is “its endorsement by a Catholic president,” Donohue noted, because, as the Bishops’ chairman has observed, “it creates confusion among the faithful about what the Church actually teaches on these questions.”

Poll: Do Utahns think there should be a moratorium on evictions during pandemic?
Utahns are divided on whether they believe the state should halt evictions to protect more renters from losing their housing in the pandemic, but many think it's a good idea.
Just under half — 47% — believe the state should have a moratorium, according to a new Deseret News/Hinckley Institute of Politics poll. A smaller share of 24% oppose a moratorium, while slightly more — 29% — aren't sure.
Slightly more women than men are supportive of a moratorium, but women were also more likely to indicate they haven't arrived at a conclusion yet, the poll shows.
There were also differences among those of separate faiths. Latter-day Saint Utahns were the least likely to favor a moratorium, followed by those of other faiths. A majority of nonreligious Utahns, however, approved.
